My bags are the antidote for the poly-lined synthetic leather run-of-the-mill bags being produced in China. Most of my bags are full-grain leather; Artisan craft , with authentic distressed character, and many with modifications unique to our line.
We only use high-grade men's belts for shoulder straps. This leather is reminiscent of equestrian leather halter straps. I also use half centimeter thick moose skin. Nothing wimpy here; quality and character that stands out and stands the test of a truly rugged lifestyle.Invest in a bag that you'll love more and more over time. Not all leather bags are created the same.
A great quality leather bag is supposed to look better with time as the leather acquires marks and age-related wear. Make sure to check out my whole store. At the time of this listing, I have 180 items all unique and different. Once you have tried it you will wonder how you functioned before without an inside handle. Also on many of my briefcases, I add a moose skin handle wrap. The handle is the point of contact that the owner has with their bag and moose skin leather is so pleasing to touch. My philosophy in writing descriptions is: a picture speaks 1000 words. That said, here is my description. What I love about this old backpack rucksack imported from Poland are the following.
All Leather and Stainless Steel. It is made from rugged yet lightweight leather it weighs about 2.5 lbs empty. Some leather backpack can be 4-8 lbs.
The Polish are known to be one of the best makers of natural tan leather backpack, briefcases, duffle bags; this natural leather is sometimes called British tan; this one has a burnt orange flair to it. The contrasting brown straps look great. The strap design is superior. The backpack is designed to be worn snugly.
It has a hook and loop system so you can put it on the right shoulder last and then hook the strap so it hugs your body nicely; especially good for you runners. While I have seen many with the hook system on the right shoulder, I had not seen one with a loop catch so the hook does not inadvertently come unhooked. Really a great system; gravity keeps the loop down and the hook in place. The straps are great too; they are 1.75 inches wide where the shoulders touch the strap. I do not like straps that are narrow as they cut into your shoulders.
Sometime bags of this era have felted wool padding. This can be nice but as an avid backpack user, I find that wide straps are more comfortable than narrow felted wool straps. Also the wool felting is usually the first thing to wear our and then the heirloom quality of the backpack rucksack is just not there; even it the leather backpack itself is in good shape.I like the large front pocket. I especially the the closer strap on this pocket is not attached with anything metal which means your pocket is not-wallet regular Apple iPhone Case friendly. There is nothing to scratch the screen. The white/ivory contrast stitching on the straps where the meet the body of the bag looks great. It really shows that handmade look. Rectangle buckles are the best as they have built into them the keeper of the strap. Many bags have regular buckles that have an additional leather loop that is the keeper and many times this loop breaks and needs to be replaced.
With these stainless steel buckles this bag enters the heirloom quality category. They are roller buckles to boot and that lessens the wear on the straps each time you adjust the straps or close the front pocket and the storm flap. Inside is clean; the outside has just the right amount of wear to give it that vintage distressed leather look without going past the the look to actually distressed and broken crack leather. You will not be dissapointed.
My labor of love in this rucksack backpack, adding an inside (and outside) grab and go handle. It will hang on a doorknob, the back of a chair, or a hook in your office.
You can even carry it open! Once you tried the handle on the inside you'll love it. It makes loading your gear much easier and the mooseskin I use is very pleasing to touch. It's high-quality 7 to 8 ounce mooseskin. If you're not familiar with leather ounce ratings it means it's a half a centimeter thick. It is like deerskin but thicker; it is my favorite leather in the world. I have added these two handles with Pounded Copper Rivets. If you are not familiar with pounded copper rivets, they are a really old school re-enforcement that us next to impossible to remove. I have even tried to drill some out before when I have made a mistake and I could not do it. I use leather washers to give it even more durability and to give the leather craft an artistic appeal. Backpacks of this era usually have a white string. I use Tandy Leather Kodiak lace to create a leather drawstring closure.
It is my custom design and works great! The old strings had to be tied in a bow. This Moose Leather Cinch is much quicker to close and looks great. Additionally for artistic flair and also improved function of use; I have added two barrel-rolled leather ends to each end of the leather lace. This bag has the true vintage look which is so popular today. It says without saying anything that you like quality and, are not afraid to be different. I imagine a business professional who appreciates the vintage look taking this to a meeting. It is sure to get comments and compliments. It is unlined leather; this is very rare these days. It is really rare to find a bag at upscale retailers that is unlined. In my opinion; unlined is so much better and lasts so much longer. The measurements, in inches, are approximately: Laid Flat and Empty - 17W x 19H x OD Full: 13W x 16H x 5-6D.
